The Telangana state government is set to distribute new smart ration cards from August 15. The cards have been designed with nine advanced security features to prevent duplication and counterfeiting. Technologies used in highly secure documents such as banknotes and passports have also been incorporated. The cards will be officially referred to as Food Security Cards.
The new cards feature Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s photograph on the top left and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy’s photograph on the top right. They contain the ration card number, name of the head of the family, fair price shop number, village, mandal, district and residential address. Women’s names have been printed as the heads of households. The advanced security features also enable officials to verify beneficiary details by scanning the card.
