A businessman was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint in Surat after his daughter stopped communicating with a young man, police said. The accused, identified as Rishabh Nahata, reportedly went to the businessman’s residence in Althan on October 1 along with two associates. As the woman was not at home, an argument broke out between Rishabh and her father, following which the three men allegedly threatened the businessman with a pistol and forcibly took him away. Police traced the suspects using technical surveillance and rescued the businessman within hours. Three people, including Rishabh, were arrested in connection with the case.
During questioning, Rishabh reportedly told police that he had gone to the family’s house seeking an explanation after the businessman’s daughter allegedly used abusive language toward one of his female friends over the phone. Police said the claim is part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities recovered property and valuables estimated at around ₹41.40 lakh, along with items allegedly linked to the incident. Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances and roles of all those involved.
