Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has responded to the US government's decision to suspend its participation in the Permanent Labour Certification (PERM) programme, stating that the move is not expected to affect its workforce strategy or client engagements. The company said it would comply with all directives issued by the US Department of Labor. TCS also noted that its PERM applications had been in single digits over the past two years, which it cited as a reason for expecting minimal impact from the suspension. The PERM programme is an important step in the employer-sponsored Green Card process for eligible foreign workers.
TCS said its US workforce strategy focuses on recruiting local talent, supported by a strong campus recruitment model. The company has established a significant local workforce across 31 offices and delivery centres in the country. It also reiterated its plan to hire an additional 15,000 employees in the US over the next five years. According to TCS, its emphasis on local recruitment and campus hiring will help it continue serving clients while complying with US labour regulations.
