The Telangana Eagle Force has busted an international hydroponic cannabis smuggling network operating between Thailand and India. During a joint operation with Customs officials, investigators uncovered a large scale racket that allegedly used nearly 300 carriers to transport high THC hydroponic cannabis from Thailand into India through multiple routes.
The investigation began after Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport seized 13.2 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis from a passenger arriving from Bangkok on April 8, 2026. Following the arrest, coordinated operations led to the apprehension of two more suspects and the seizure of an additional 12.739 kilograms of cannabis. Authorities revealed that the network operated through hubs in Thailand, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
Officials identified a total of 40 accused persons in the case. Investigators believe the syndicate shifted from smuggling rare goods to narcotics trafficking in 2023. The alleged kingpin was identified as a Mumbai based individual who, along with associates, used business operations in Thailand as a cover for the illegal trade. The Eagle Force urged the public to stay away from drugs and report information related to narcotics through official channels, including the helpline number 1908.
