Telangana Government Announces Major Relief for Students on Fee Reimbursement

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced a major change in the implementation of the fee reimbursement scheme. He said that eligible students who apply online will no longer have to repeatedly request fee reimbursement, as the funds will be made available in advance in their bank accounts every year. The government has decided to streamline the system and deposit around ₹2,400 crore annually into students’ accounts.

Addressing a gathering at the HMDA grounds after unveiling the statues of social reformers Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule near Necklace Road, the Chief Minister said educational institutions should not withhold students’ certificates for non-payment of fees. He also urged students to focus on technical skills along with formal education, stating that the changing job market increasingly values practical and technological expertise. He highlighted opportunities in nursing, polytechnic education, skill development and emerging technologies, while also encouraging students to excel in sports. He said the Young India Sports University would support talented sportspersons with government jobs and cash incentives for major achievements.
