The Telangana government has taken another key step towards resolving long-pending issues related to lands listed under Section 22A. The government has decided to allow the registration of eligible patta lands that have been put to residential use without obtaining NALA permission, subject to payment of the applicable NALA conversion fee. District Collectors have been issued guidelines to process eligible applications within the prescribed time frame. NALA governs the conversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes in Telangana.
The decision follows directions issued by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on resolving 22A land-related issues. The government has already issued five government orders on the matter and constituted a high-level committee to examine the issues. Registrations of eligible houses, flats and plots covered by GHMC, HMDA, DTCP and municipal permissions have also been permitted. Orders have additionally been issued to address pending ULC applications that have remained unresolved for several years. The government has been working towards a broader resolution of land-record and registration-related issues in the state.
