Telangana High Court Issues Bailable Warrant Against Senior IAS Officer Sandeep Kumar Sultania

The Telangana High Court has issued a bailable warrant against Finance Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania in connection with a contempt of court case. The matter relates to the alleged failure to implement the High Court's earlier order directing the release of ₹33 crore to the Secunderabad Cantonment Board. Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka ordered the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to secure the officer's presence before the court. However, the court clarified that Sultania may be released on bail upon furnishing a personal bond of ₹5,000 and assuring his appearance before the court.

The contempt petition was filed by BJP leader and Secunderabad Cantonment Board member J. Ramakrishna, alleging that despite the High Court's order dated December 18, 2024, the government had failed to release the funds. The petitioner contended that the Principal Secretary had willfully disobeyed the court's directions. Observing that sufficient opportunities had already been granted without any meaningful compliance, the High Court adopted a stricter approach and directed the registry to issue a bailable warrant. It also instructed the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to execute the warrant promptly and submit a detailed compliance report to the court.
