US President Donald Trump has called for artificial intelligence (AI) to be referred to as “Super Intelligence” (SI), describing the new term as more accurate and widely accepted. In a post on his Truth Social platform on October 8, Trump said the White House considers those who continue using “Artificial Intelligence” instead of “Super Intelligence” to be its “enemy.” The statement comes after his administration directed federal executive branch agencies to adopt the new terminology in official communications. The proposed change has drawn attention amid growing public concerns about AI safety, its potential impact on jobs and the need for effective regulation.
Trump has also announced the formation of the Super Intelligence Force (SIF), a federal initiative intended to coordinate government efforts and maintain US leadership in advanced AI technologies. The task force is expected to engage with technology companies, consumers, public-interest groups and other stakeholders. Meanwhile, SpaceX chief Elon Musk has responded positively to a proposal to rename the company’s AI division from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, reflecting the terminology promoted by Trump. However, the shift in terminology does not, by itself, resolve wider questions about AI safety, oversight or the technology’s impact on society.
