Trustworthy Educators Are Key to Exam Security

V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras and a member of the Centre-appointed examination reforms task force, stated that the credibility and integrity of question paper setters remain the biggest challenge in conducting examinations. Speaking to the media in Chennai, he noted that the number of students appearing for public exams has increased significantly over the past four decades, making technological intervention an important aspect of exam management.

He explained that while surveillance systems such as cameras have strengthened exam monitoring, recent incidents highlight vulnerabilities at the paper-setting stage. Referring to NEET-2024, he said the leak occurred during transportation after printing, whereas in NEET-2026, investigations suggest the paper was leaked at the creation stage itself despite secure printing and logistics. He emphasized the need for trustworthy educators to design question papers with utmost confidentiality and assured that the committee aims to introduce transparent, robust, and leak-proof reforms.
