The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has introduced stricter restrictions on commercial two-wheelers travelling to Tirumala. Commercial bikes booked through online ride-hailing platforms such as Ola, Uber and Rapido will not be allowed on the Tirumala ghat road. The vehicles will reportedly be stopped at the Alipiri check-post as part of measures aimed at strengthening the safety of devotees. TTD has also instructed the concerned online ride-service companies to remove the “Tirumala Ride” option from their apps and mapping services.
The decision comes in the wake of a recent bike-taxi accident on the Tirumala ghat road in which a devotee from Hyderabad reportedly lost his life and another person was seriously injured. TTD has placed special awareness banners at the Alipiri check-post and said the restrictions will be enforced strictly. Devotees can continue travelling to Tirumala using APSRTC buses and permitted private vehicles. TTD has urged pilgrims to follow traffic and safety guidelines, maintain controlled speeds and exercise caution while travelling on the ghat road.
