The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a major relief for Aadhaar holders by waiving the ₹75 fee currently charged for updating email addresses in Aadhaar records. The facility will be available free of cost for six months, from July 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, through the Aadhaar mobile application.
According to UIDAI, linking and updating an email address with Aadhaar enables users to receive important notifications, service updates, and authentication-related information instantly. The Aadhaar mobile app also offers several other services, including mobile number updates, address changes, biometric lock and unlock, e-Aadhaar download, and authentication history checks. The authority stated that the fee waiver is currently limited to updates made through the Aadhaar mobile app, while a decision on extending the concession beyond six months will be taken later.
