The United States has withdrawn its bombers from RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom amid heightened security concerns following a suspected terror plot targeting the base. The Pentagon confirmed that all U.S. bombers deployed at Fairford have been redeployed to their home stations in the United States. Around a dozen B-1B Lancer bombers had been stationed at the base.
RAF Fairford has been an important launch base for U.S. bomber operations against Iran, with B-1 and B-52 aircraft used during military operations earlier this year. The withdrawal came after several people were arrested in connection with a suspected plot near the base. British authorities are investigating possible links to Iran, while Tehran has denied involvement in the alleged plot.
