Why Did Gautami Walk Away?

A notable development has emerged in Tamil Nadu politics as senior actress Gautami announced her resignation from the AIADMK. In a letter addressed to party General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, she stated that she was stepping down from both the party’s primary membership and her role as Deputy Propaganda Secretary. Gautami said the decision was made after careful consideration of the current political environment and her desire to continue serving society in a meaningful way.

Expressing gratitude to the party leadership, former ministers, district secretaries, and party workers who supported her throughout her tenure, Gautami thanked them for their cooperation and encouragement. Having previously spent more than two decades in the BJP, she left the party in 2023 and joined AIADMK in 2024.
