Superstar Rajinikanth and director Nelson Dilipkumar have reunited for the much-awaited sequel Jailer 2. While promotions are progressing across southern markets, the film is reportedly facing a hurdle in its theatrical release in North India. According to reports, the Hindi version may not be screened by major national multiplex chains, including PVR INOX and Cinepolis, due to a disagreement over the film’s digital release timeline.
The issue reportedly stems from the producers’ plan to release the film on an OTT platform just four weeks after its theatrical debut, while national multiplex chains insist on an eight-week window for Hindi releases. As a result, the Hindi version may be limited to single-screen theatres in northern states. Sun Pictures has backed the project, which features cameo appearances by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Hrithik Roshan. Meanwhile, the film’s Telugu pre-release event is scheduled to take place this evening in Hyderabad, with music director Anirudh Ravichander set to perform live.
