This raw coconut and green chilli chutney is a flavorful dish that can easily compete with non-vegetarian curries. It pairs perfectly with rice, idli, dosa, and even chapati, making it a versatile addition to any meal. Prepared with minimal ingredients, this chutney is not only simple but also rich in taste. The key ingredients include raw coconut pieces, green chillies, cumin seeds, garlic, tamarind, salt, oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves.
To prepare, heat oil in a pan and sauté green chillies and cumin seeds. Then grind coconut pieces and the sautéed mixture coarsely in a mixer. Add garlic, soaked tamarind, salt, and water, and blend into a smooth paste. Transfer to a bowl and prepare a tempering with mustard seeds, urad dal, dried red chillies, and curry leaves. Mix the tempering into the chutney, and it is ready to serve. It tastes delicious with rice, idli, or dosa.
