Chiranjeevi-starrer Rakshasudu completes 40 years on October 2, 2026. One of the memorable aspects of the film is the evergreen song ‘Achha Achha Vachha Vachha’, whose playful lyrics showcased the creativity and wordplay of legendary Telugu lyricist Veturi Sundararama Murthy. Known for effortlessly adapting his writing to different situations, Veturi reportedly took up a unique challenge while the film was being shot in 1986 and came up with the song in just five minutes.
According to the story associated with the song, producer K. S. Rama Rao asked Veturi to write lyrics featuring the ‘chha’ sound after hearing a co-director repeatedly use words ending with the same sound. He reportedly offered ₹1,000 for every occurrence of the sound in the song. Veturi began the pallavi with ‘Achha Achha Vachha Vachha’ and filled the lyrics with clever wordplay. The song is said to contain nearly 50 instances of the ‘cha’ sound. With music by Ilaiyaraaja and vocals by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and S. Janaki, the song became a memorable part of Rakshasudu. The on-screen pairing and dance performances of Chiranjeevi and Radha further added to its popularity.
