Ajay Devgn, who has delivered several hits with remakes, has reportedly struck gold once again with the Drishyam franchise. The third instalment of the Hindi crime thriller series, adapted from the successful Malayalam franchise, is said to have crossed the ₹500 crore gross mark worldwide. While Singham Again collected a net of ₹43.70 crore on its opening day, Drishyam: The Conclusion reportedly began its theatrical run with ₹62 crore, making it the biggest opening-day grosser of Ajay Devgn’s career. Interestingly, audiences have embraced him not as a police officer chasing criminals, but as Vijay Salgaonkar, a man determined to protect his family while staying one step ahead of the police. The film also witnessed a strong response to advance bookings ahead of its release.
Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa, an action entertainer inspired by the Tamil film Kaithi, failed to meet expectations. However, the Drishyam franchise has proved to be a major milestone in his career. This time, the Hindi team reportedly opted for a different ending for Vijay Salgaonkar instead of following the Malayalam original exactly. Director Abhishek Pathak said the change helped maintain suspense even among viewers familiar with the original story. He also revealed that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal praised the Hindi version’s climax. By the end of its theatrical run, the film is expected to collect around ₹650–670 crore gross worldwide and ₹400–415 crore net in India. However, Pathak has confirmed that there will be no fourth instalment of the Hindi franchise, while speculation continues about a possible continuation of the Malayalam series.
