Chinmayi Reacts Strongly to Trisha Controversy

Playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada has spoken out against the controversy surrounding remarks linked to actor Trisha Krishnan, stating that women should never be used as targets or punchlines in political speeches. She said that, irrespective of political differences, women deserve dignity and respect and should not be dragged into political rivalries.

Recalling the misogynistic abuse faced by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa during her political career, Chinmayi questioned why such behaviour continues to be normalised. The controversy arose after remarks made by Udhayanidhi Stalin during a Cauvery-related protest were widely interpreted as referring to Trisha. Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar also condemned the remarks and called for a public apology.
