Major developments unfolded within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) following its annual general body meeting. AMMA President Swetha Menon and 17 executive committee members resigned from their positions after heated discussions reportedly took place over financial matters and the association’s annual income and expenditure report. Several members raised concerns regarding the clarity and transparency of the financial statements, leading to intense debates during the meeting.
Speaking to the media after her resignation, Swetha Menon stated that several issues related to previous committees remain unresolved. She alleged that attempts were made to take important decisions without properly informing the current leadership. Emphasizing her independent approach, she said she was unwilling to function under external influence. Responding to the controversy, Kerala Cultural Affairs and Film Minister P.C. Vishnunath said the matter was an internal issue of the organization and did not require government intervention. Reports suggest that a temporary committee may be formed until a new leadership team takes charge.
