Director Nandini Reddy has responded to the recent debate surrounding Janhvi Kapoor’s role in Peddi. Addressing the controversy, she stated that actresses are fully aware of the characters they portray and make informed decisions before signing a project. According to her, every aspect of a role is discussed during the narration process, allowing actors to decide whether they are comfortable with the character and the story.
Nandini Reddy emphasized that it is unfair to place the entire responsibility on filmmakers when actresses willingly accept roles after understanding the script. She pointed out that several actresses have rejected projects in the past when they were not comfortable with certain characters. Stressing the importance of personal choice, she said actors accept remuneration and participate in films based on their own decisions, and therefore accountability should be shared rather than directed solely at filmmakers.
