Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming film Ranabaali is scheduled for release on the 16th of this month. Presented by T-Series, the film is directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar. Vijay said the film aims to introduce audiences worldwide to brave figures who fought for the people, the hardships faced by their ancestors, and the way British rulers occupied India. He explained that the story was developed from folk ballads heard at a fair in Anantapur and that the film itself opens with a traditional Burrakatha performance.
Vijay said learning the Rayalaseema dialect and horse riding for the film was challenging. He highlighted the emotional connection between his character Ranabaali and Rashmika’s character, Jayamma. He also reiterated his opposition to increasing movie ticket prices, saying he would prefer to avoid hikes in films he stars in wherever producers have control over the decision. He added that regional dialects, including those of Telangana and Rayalaseema, should be portrayed with heroism rather than being limited to comedy or villainous roles. Vijay also expressed interest in doing a biopic if he finds a role suited to him.
