Sanjay Dutt Clarifies ‘Peace in India’ Remark

Actor Sanjay Dutt has clarified his recent remarks on Shekhar Suman’s talk show Shekhar Tonite after they drew criticism on social media. The comments were made during a special Gandhi Jayanti episode, where Dutt appeared in a scripted segment inspired by his iconic Munna Bhai character and the satirical concept of Gandhigiri. Dutt said he never intended to hurt, offend or disrespect any individual, community or institution.

In a subsequent video statement, Dutt reiterated that the remarks were part of a scripted television performance and did not represent his personal views. He said the comments were intended to be light-hearted and humorous, but were interpreted outside their original context. Show host Shekhar Suman also defended Dutt, saying the actor has deep respect for India and its people and that his remarks were intended positively.
