The music composed by Anirudh Ravichander for superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’ is receiving mixed reactions. The makers released the complete 12-song jukebox on October 2, featuring tracks such as ‘Ala Bolelo’, ‘One Sun One Moon’, ‘Nethru Ponavai’, ‘Veramari’, ‘Bindass’, ‘One Name’, ‘Dil Hareya’ and ‘Hukum Reloaded’. However, discussions are underway about whether the sequel’s songs have managed to recreate the impact of ‘Hukum’ from the first instalment. Some listeners have also raised concerns over the pronunciation of Malayalam words in ‘Ala Bolelo’. While the album features a mix of mass, melody and dance numbers, some sections of the audience feel that it has yet to receive the level of recognition expected from a ‘Jailer’ album.
‘One Sun One Moon’, ‘One Name’ and ‘Bindass’ have already been released, with ‘One Name’ positioned as a mass-oriented track and ‘Bindass’, featuring Nora Fatehi, built around dance elements. Despite these songs generating attention, industry discussions suggest that the sequel’s album has not yet achieved the lasting impact associated with the songs from ‘Jailer’. This has led to renewed discussion around Anirudh’s music, with fans comparing the album with his earlier work for Rajinikanth films. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, ‘Jailer 2’ is scheduled to hit theatres on October 15. Whether the songs gain stronger acceptance after the film’s release remains to be seen.
