Actor and director Sheraz Mehdi has alleged that a major conspiracy is affecting small-budget films in the Telugu film industry. Speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad, he claimed that unfair practices in theatre allocation are preventing low-budget movies from getting adequate screens and show timings. According to him, many promising films are failing to reach audiences because of these challenges.
Sheraz stated that his film ‘O Andala Rakshasi’ also faced difficulties during its release and re-release. He pointed out that small films struggle not only with theatres but also with OTT platforms, satellite rights, audio rights, and overseas distribution. He revealed that legal notices have been sent to major multiplex chains and warned that he may consider working in other film industries if the situation does not improve.
