Thaman, one of Telugu cinema’s leading music composers for over 15 years, is facing strong criticism after the release of They Call Him OG, starring Pawan Kalyan.
Before the release, Thaman stirred discussions by claiming that his score for OG would compete with Tamil blockbusters like Vikram, Jailer, Beast, and LEO, composed by Anirudh Ravichander. His bold remarks went viral, raising expectations among fans.
The film released on September 25, and while many praised the songs and especially the background score for antagonist OMI, controversy soon followed. Listeners noticed that The Theme OMI sounded strikingly similar to Lumi Uni, a track released last year by Albanian singer and composer Irkenc Hyka.
Social media erupted with criticism, accusing Thaman of plagiarism. His earlier remarks about competing with Tamil music further intensified the backlash. As of now, Thaman has not issued any clarification. Fans are waiting to see whether he addresses the allegations in interviews or moves forward with his upcoming projects.
On the work front, Thaman is busy with multiple films — Telusu Kada and Akhanda 2 are releasing this year, while The Raja Saab is scheduled for Sankranti 2026.
