SS Rajamouli is widely known for taking considerable time to complete his ambitious films. Projects such as Baahubali and RRR were produced over extended schedules, leading to the perception that his films rarely arrive exactly as initially planned. However, his upcoming pan-world project Varanasi appears to be following a different production timeline. Starring Mahesh Babu in the lead, the film is scheduled to release on April 7, 2027, although fans have remained cautious about the announced date given Rajamouli’s previous production schedules.
Rajamouli recently revealed that around 90 percent of Varanasi’s shooting has been completed, bringing excitement among fans. Compared with RRR, whose shooting continued for more than 1,000 days, Varanasi appears to be progressing considerably faster. The team is also preparing to complete the remaining shoot, post-production, visual effects and other technical work at a faster pace. Priyanka Chopra Jonas stars opposite Mahesh Babu, while Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran plays a key role. With the scale of the project and Rajamouli’s vision, expectations surrounding Varanasi continue to rise.
