As part of technological advancement, Artificial Intelligence is creating numerous new opportunities. At the same time, its misuse is creating new challenges for the film industry. Deepfake technology, in particular, has raised concerns as actors’ faces are being manipulated to create fake videos. As such content spreads rapidly across social media platforms, it poses serious threats to the reputation, privacy and digital security of the individuals involved. The increasing targeting of female actors with such fake content has made the situation even more concerning.
To address the issue, the Movie Artists Association (MAA) is reportedly preparing to take action. It is said to be collecting details of social media accounts involved in creating and circulating deepfake videos. Along with legal action against those responsible, stronger coordination between technology companies and social media platforms is essential. Strengthening systems to quickly identify and remove fake content could help contain the problem. Otherwise, the misuse of Artificial Intelligence could become an even bigger challenge in the future.
