Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar accused the Congress government of neglecting the Hindu community allegedly due to pressure from AIMIM. During the Bonalu festivities, he offered special prayers at the Kurmaguda Three Temples and Nallapochamma Temple in Madannapet, Hyderabad. Speaking to the media later, he alleged that the government had allocated ₹33 crore for Ramadan celebrations but provided only ₹20 crore for Bonalu. He questioned the lack of basic civic amenities such as sanitation, drinking water and streetlights in several Old City localities during the festival.
Bandi Sanjay criticised the government for allegedly failing to give adequate importance to Hindu festivals. He said that whenever he questioned such policies, he was accused of creating communal tensions, but maintained that he would continue to raise his voice whenever he believed the Hindu community was being treated unfairly. He demanded better civic infrastructure in the Old City during Bonalu celebrations. Bhagyanagar BJP district president Niranjan Yadav, former deputy mayor Subhash Chanderji and former corporator Sahadev Yadav were among those who attended the programme.
