Chaos of Adjournments in Parliament!

The Monsoon Session of Parliament concludes today after continuing for a total of 19 days. Proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were repeatedly disrupted, with the Houses facing adjournments on 18 of the 19 days. Protests and disagreements over various issues affected the smooth functioning of Parliament.

Several important bills were reportedly passed through voice votes without extensive debate during the session. The manner in which the bills were cleared has triggered political discussion over parliamentary proceedings and the scope for debate. The frequent adjournments throughout the session have also emerged as a key feature of this year’s Monsoon Session.
