Former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy strongly criticized the withdrawal of the Disha Act through a post on X, calling it a “dark day” for women. He alleged that the move has weakened the comprehensive safety framework that was established to protect women. Jagan stated that the Disha Act was introduced to ensure swift justice and enhanced security for women.

He highlighted that the Disha app was downloaded by 15.1 million users and that police responded to 31,607 emergency calls, demonstrating the effectiveness of the system. According to him, such data clearly reflects the impact of the initiative, and withdrawing the Act could adversely affect women’s safety and security.
