KTR Writes Open Letter to CM Revanth Reddy

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has written an open letter to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on the occasion of National Handloom Day, urging the state government to immediately restore the handloom welfare schemes implemented during the previous BRS administration. KTR alleged that the Congress government had failed to honour its election promises to weavers and claimed that the handloom sector had witnessed a significant decline under the current administration. He also criticised the government's decision to award official orders to private agencies, alleging that it was affecting the livelihoods of traditional weavers.

KTR further criticised both the Congress and the BJP, stating that the two parties had adopted similar policies toward the handloom sector. He alleged that the Central Government had weakened the industry by abolishing the All India Handloom Board, Handicrafts Board and Powerloom Board, discontinuing welfare schemes and imposing 5 percent GST on handloom products. Stressing that handloom is an integral part of Telangana's identity and culture, KTR urged the government to support weavers and implement meaningful welfare measures to protect their livelihoods.
