Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has strongly criticised Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing him of making unlawful changes to Form 6 and committing an act against the Constitution. Rahul alleged that the CEC misused his authority at the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.Rahul responded on X after the Supreme Court clarified that it had not approved the changes made to Form 6, which is being used as part of the Special Intensive Revision process.
Rahul said the development was evidence that Gyanesh Kumar was allegedly misusing his authority to benefit the BJP. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also criticised the CEC, alleging that Form 6 was deliberately altered to remove Gen Z voters who are seen as a source of concern for Prime Minister Modi.Jairam Ramesh alleged that Gyanesh had lied and violated the law.
The BJP, meanwhile, said the notices issued by the Supreme Court to the Election Commission and the Centre demonstrate that the Election Commission and other institutions are functioning independently.
