BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman criticised the INDIA bloc’s nationwide ‘Save Democracy’ march, alleging that it was aimed at protecting political families and dynastic interests rather than democracy. He alleged that Congress leaders were raising allegations of EVM tampering and vote theft because they were unable to accept electoral defeats and questioned the party’s objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Laxman also questioned why the removal of duplicate and deceased voters from electoral rolls was being opposed.
Laxman also criticised the Congress government in Telangana and questioned whether an “RR Constitution” involving Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was operating in the state. He questioned whether Rahul Gandhi, who frequently speaks about the Constitution, was aware of what Laxman described as alleged constitutional violations in Telangana. These remarks were made by Laxman while addressing the ongoing political debate over electoral-roll revision, EVMs and the Congress-led ‘Save Democracy’ campaign.
