Stalin Slams TVK Government’s First Budget

DMK president and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly criticized the first budget presented by the newly formed TVK government, calling it disappointing and lacking vision. He alleged that the government had failed to deliver on its key election promises and described the budget as devoid of fresh ideas and long-term planning.

Reacting to the 2026–27 Tamil Nadu Budget, presented in the State Assembly, Stalin took to social media to express his disappointment. “People expected this budget to be a ‘blast,’ but it has turned out to be a ‘waste.’ It is nothing more than a remake of the previous Dravidian Model government’s budget,” he wrote.

Stalin said the public had expected major announcements from the new government, but their hopes were dashed. “Everyone expected the budget to explode like a bomb, but it ended up being nothing more than a damp firecracker,” he remarked, accusing the TVK government of simply rebranding welfare schemes introduced by the previous DMK administration and presenting them as its own.

The former Chief Minister also criticized the government for failing to address key issues such as farmers’ problems, confusion over electricity bills, and rising prices of essential commodities. He questioned the government's silence on several major promises made during the election campaign.Stalin pointed out that there was no mention of the promised ₹2,500 monthly assistance for women, ₹4,000 monthly unemployment allowance for youth, six free LPG cylinders per year, or a complete farm loan waiver. He concluded that the budget had failed to provide a clear long-term roadmap for Tamil Nadu’s development.
