YSRCP leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy suffered a setback in the Supreme Court in connection with the Buggamatham land dispute. The Supreme Court declined to intervene in the matter and upheld the decision previously delivered by the High Court. A bench comprising Justice Viswanathan and Justice Arun Palli said that the matter should be taken before the Endowments Tribunal in accordance with the High Court’s directions.
The Supreme Court’s decision means that Peddireddy will have to pursue the matter through the appropriate Endowments and Charitable Institutions Tribunal rather than seeking intervention from the apex court at this stage. The ruling effectively leaves the High Court’s earlier decision in place and directs the parties to follow the legal remedy prescribed in that judgment.
