A diplomatic controversy has erupted following remarks made by US President Donald Trump regarding Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the G7 Summit in France. Trump reportedly claimed that Meloni was eager to take a photograph with him during the summit and that he obliged out of goodwill.
Meloni strongly denied the statement, saying she never pleaded for a photo and criticized Trump’s remarks as inappropriate toward an ally. The dispute escalated further as Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani reportedly cancelled his upcoming US visit in response. The incident has added strain to already sensitive diplomatic relations between the two nations.
