

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, participated in a Tamil Nadu-level consultation meeting of the INDIA bloc for the first time. The meeting was held at Sathyamurthy Bhavan in Chennai, with TVK ministers Aadhav Arjuna and Maria Wilson representing the party. Leaders from Congress, TVK, CPI(M), CPI, VCK, MDMK and IUML attended the meeting chaired by Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore. Tagore described TVK’s participation as a significant development for opposition coordination in the state.
The meeting also focused on the opposition’s campaign against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and its demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Tamil Nadu INDIA bloc has announced district-level protests on October 13 and 14, followed by a major protest on October 15. Alliance MPs are also scheduled to march to the Election Commission headquarters in New Delhi on October 6. TVK’s participation in the meeting has added a new dimension to Tamil Nadu’s evolving political landscape.
