West Asia has once again turned into a conflict zone as tensions escalate sharply between the United States and Iran following an Apache helicopter crash near the Strait of Hormuz. The US launched retaliatory strikes against Iran, claiming the action was in response to attacks on its military assets. Iran, however, described the US action as aggression and responded with strikes targeting American bases across the Gulf region, including Bahrain and Jordan.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed attacks on US naval and air bases and also reported shooting down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over Bushehr province, though Washington has not confirmed the claim. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned the US against further escalation, stating that Iranian forces would respond strongly and advised US troops to leave the region for their safety. Former US President Donald Trump defended the strikes, calling them a “strong message” to Iran.
