Story:
Karthik and his three friends make a living through scams and deception. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they pretend to be music video makers to get close to former Miss India Sandali Arora. However, Sandali shocks them by asking them to kill her husband, Pradeep Chakravarthy. Whether the youngsters accept the dangerous offer and what consequences follow form the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
The movie begins with a crime-based premise that has enough potential to become an engaging thriller. Sandeep Ashwa delivers a decent performance in the lead role, while Zoya Zaveri suits her glamorous character well. Rajeev Kanakala adds some maturity to the film, and his scenes with the younger cast stand out. Ghantadi Krishna impresses more as a music composer than as a director, with a few songs leaving a pleasant impression.
Minus Points:
The biggest drawback is the weak screenplay and inconsistent execution. Despite having an interesting core idea, the narrative fails to create suspense or emotional engagement. The first half depends heavily on glamour instead of storytelling, while the second half introduces twists that fail to make an impact due to poor presentation. Most of the lead actors struggle with emotional scenes, making several moments feel unconvincing. Sanya Thakur has very little scope, and the unnecessary placement of songs further slows down the pace.
Technical Department:
Ghantadi Krishna delivers decent music but falls short as a director due to weak writing. Shiva Sarvani's editing could have been much tighter, while Jagadeesh Komari's cinematography is satisfactory. The production values remain average throughout the film.
Verdict:
Risk – A Game of Youth is a crime drama that fails to utilize its promising concept. Weak performances, an ineffective screenplay, and poor execution outweigh the few positives. Apart from a couple of good songs and Rajeev Kanakala's performance, the film offers very little entertainment and can easily be skipped.
Rating : 2/5
