Amid speculation about Virat Kohli’s retirement from international cricket, the Indian star has responded with his performances, including a recent century. Kohli’s current form has drawn praise from his close friend and former South African cricketer AB de Villiers. Speaking in an interview with a national media outlet, de Villiers said Kohli was playing better than he did in 2016 and appeared more relaxed and free on the field. He added that he had noticed this change after last year’s ICC Champions Trophy and believes a different side of Kohli is now becoming more visible to fans.
De Villiers said he was unsure how long Kohli would continue playing but stressed that the batter had become even more dangerous in his current form. According to him, stopping Kohli becomes extremely difficult when he plays aggressively. He also expressed confidence that Kohli could have a major impact for India at the 2027 ODI World Cup if he maintains his form. De Villiers added that sharing a dressing room with Kohli would be a valuable opportunity for young cricketers to learn from his experience.
