Ashish Yadav Shines in U20 Javelin

Indian javelin thrower Ashish Yadav produced an impressive performance at the U20 World Championships to win the silver medal. The 19-year-old recorded a throw of 74.09 metres to finish second. His achievement brings India another javelin medal at the U20 World Championships after nearly a decade. In 2016, Neeraj Chopra won gold with a throw of 86.48 metres.

Ashish faced strong competition throughout the final. After opening with a 69.96-metre throw, he produced his season-best effort of 74.09 metres in the third round. South Africa’s John Hydrick Hyman won gold with 80.50 metres, while Dominica’s Addison James secured bronze with 73.89 metres. Ashish has now become only the second Indian athlete to win a javelin medal at the U20 World Championships.
