

India concluded its 2026 Asian Games campaign with an impressive haul of 85 medals — 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze. The Indian men’s hockey team provided the final golden touch, defeating Malaysia 5-1 in the final in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. With this victory, India retained the men’s hockey title and secured qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. India finished fourth in the overall medal standings, behind China, Japan and South Korea.
The final day saw India collect gold medals across several disciplines. The men’s cricket team defeated Pakistan to win gold, while Aman Sehrawat secured gold in the men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling category. Pranavi Sharath Urs created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual Asian Games golf gold. Athletics was India’s biggest medal contributor with 24 medals, while shooting also produced a strong medal haul.
