Asmita Chaliha Clinches First BWF World Tour Title With Korea Masters Triumph

Indian badminton star Asmita Chaliha has produced a memorable performance to win the Korea Masters Super 300 title, claiming her maiden BWF World Tour crown. The 26-year-old defeated fourth seed Han Qianxi 14-21, 21-14, 21-14 in the women’s singles final. After losing the opening game, Asmita bounced back strongly, taking control of the second and third games to complete an impressive victory. Her title-winning run also included a major upset over top seed Akechi of Japan in the quarterfinals.

The triumph is particularly significant given Asmita’s recent struggles with injury. She suffered a tear in her right knee at the Korea Open in August 2024 and underwent surgery before returning to competition in February 2025. Since her comeback, she had shown consistency, reaching the quarterfinals at the China Masters and Malaysia Masters and the semifinals at the Macau Open, but missed out on titles at crucial moments. In Korea, she cut down on unforced errors and delivered when it mattered most. Asmita said the victory felt unbelievable and that she now hopes to win more titles.
