David Warner in Drink-Drive Case

Australian cricketer David Warner has landed in legal trouble after being booked in a drink-driving case. During court proceedings, Warner's lawyer, Bobby Hill, admitted that the cricketer made a poor decision by driving after consuming three glasses of wine at a friend's residence on Easter Sunday instead of booking an Uber. On April 5, police stopped Warner in eastern Sydney, where a breath test returned positive for alcohol. Further testing at Maroubra Police Station recorded his blood alcohol concentration at 0.104, more than twice Australia's legal limit.

The incident occurred shortly after Warner returned to Sydney following his stint as captain of the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. The case has sparked controversy because Warner currently captains the Sydney Thunder, a team involved in the New South Wales Government's anti-drink-driving awareness campaign. After regaining leadership eligibility in 2024 following the lifting of his post-ball-tampering ban, Warner now faces renewed scrutiny, with speculation growing over whether Sydney Thunder will reconsider his captaincy.
