England produced a clinical all-round performance to defeat India by 56 runs in the fifth and final T20I at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, sealing the five-match series 4–0 after the opening game was washed out. The emphatic victory marked England's first-ever T20I bilateral series whitewash over India and propelled Harry Brook's side to the No.1 position in the ICC Men's T20I rankings. The defeat also extended India's disappointing run after consecutive series losses against Ireland and England.

Asked to bat first, England piled up a record-breaking 257/3 in 20 overs, the highest total ever scored against India in T20Is. Jos Buttler starred with a magnificent 131, while captain Harry Brook remained unbeaten on 95 as the duo stitched together an unbeaten 233-run partnership for the second wicket. Chasing 258, India managed only 201/8 despite spirited half-centuries from Ishan Kishan (56) and Tilak Varma (53).
