Egypt created history in the FIFA World Cup by registering their first ever victory in the tournament. The Pharaohs defeated New Zealand 3-1, ending a 92 year wait for a World Cup win since their debut appearance in 1934.
Egypt had previously participated in the World Cup in 1934, 1990, and 2018 but failed to win a match in those editions. Their 3-1 victory over New Zealand in the 2026 tournament finally ended the long wait and marked a historic moment for Egyptian football.
