Germany ended a 12 year wait to reach the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup after defeating Ivory Coast 2-1 in a thrilling encounter. The team secured qualification to the Super 32 stage with a strong second half comeback led by substitute Deniz Undav.
Ivory Coast took a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute through Franck Kessié, after a chance created by young talent Yan Diomande. Germany had two goals disallowed in the first half due to fouls. In the second half, Undav equalized in the 68th minute from a Nadiem Amiri cross and later scored the winning goal in extra time, sealing a memorable 2-1 victory.
