Grand Welcome for Commonwealth Winners in Delhi

Indian athletes who brought glory to the nation by winning several medals at the Commonwealth Games received a grand welcome in Delhi on Tuesday. Hundreds of fans gathered at the airport to greet the boxers who won seven gold medals and Asmita, who created history by winning India’s first-ever judo gold medal. Fans honoured the athletes with flower garlands and garlands made of ₹50 currency notes.

Judo gold medallist Asmita expressed her happiness over the achievement. She said winning a gold medal for India in judo was her dream and that she travelled to Glasgow with the determination to return home with the top honour. She described the victory as a proud moment for herself and the country.
