India secured a convincing eight-wicket victory over West Indies in the first T20I at Lucknow, taking a 1–0 lead in the five-match series. After restricting West Indies to 171, India chased down the target of 172 in just 14.4 overs, finishing at 172/2. Captain Shreyas Iyer starred with an unbeaten 102 off 43 balls, while Ishan Kishan supported him with 37 runs.
India’s bowling attack also played a key role in the victory. Debutant Naman Dhir impressed with three wickets, while Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav claimed two wickets each. For West Indies, Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford scored half-centuries, making 52 and 56 respectively, but their efforts were not enough to prevent India from taking the lead in the series.
