India continued its medal-winning run at the 2026 Asian Games with a silver medal in the men’s skiff sailing event. The Indian pair of Manu Francis and Prince Noble finished second with 23 points, matching Hong Kong’s tally, but secured the silver by virtue of finishing ahead in more races. The duo topped the third race and finished second in the first, fifth and ninth races, while China won gold. India also claimed bronze in the women’s skiff, with Harshita Tomar and Shital Verma finishing third with 24 points. Prince Noble’s silver had special significance as his father, a fisherman, died in the 2018 Kerala floods. Noble began sailing in 2009 and has competed alongside his cousin Manu Francis for nearly a decade. The duo had also won bronze at the 2023 Asian Championships.
Squash also added two bronze medals to India’s tally after both the men’s and women’s teams lost their respective semifinals. The women’s team went down 1-2 to Hong Kong, while the defending champion men’s team lost to Malaysia. With these results, India finished with five squash medals at the Games, including singles silver medals for Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh and a mixed-doubles bronze for Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar. In sepaktakraw, India defeated Myanmar 2-1 to top Group A and qualify for the men’s quadrant semifinals. In shooting, Anish Bhanwala finished seventh in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol final with 11 hits. Meanwhile, India’s tennis campaign ended without a medal after Sumit Nagal lost 4-6, 4-6 to China’s Yibing Wu in the quarterfinals, marking the first medal-less Asian Games tennis campaign for India since 1986. India’s women’s hockey team is scheduled to face defending champion China in the gold-medal match on October 2 at 3:30 pm, with the team seeking its first Asian Games women’s hockey gold since 1982.
